Scientists are so mean, No. 4

“Teach the controversy” is an initiative by the Seattle, Wash.-based conservative think tank we affectionately refer to as the Disco Tute, which aims to discredit evolution by discussing the “weaknesses of the theory” in high school science courses. The only problem is that there is no controversy within the scientific community.

As the National Academy of Sciences puts it, “Such controversies as do exist concern the details of the mechanisms of evolution, not the validity of the over-arching theory of evolution, which is one of the best supported theories in all of science.”
