This site being intended as a community forum for the discussion of Christianity and evolution, comments on our articles are both permitted and encouraged (which is already more than you’ll get from the likes of Answers in Genesis or the Discovery Institute). Being a writer and a journalist, I hold freedom of speech in pretty high regard and, therefore, give considerable leeway in the discussions that happen on this site. However, I do have a few simple rules:
1. Don’t be a troll or a drive-by commenter. Basically, comments should be relevant to the topic or topics of discussion, and don’t post something provocative if you’re not interested in following up and continuing the conversation.
2. Be respectful of others. This site discusses controversial topics, but please, let’s not resort to personal attacks. The comment streams of the Internet blogosphere already generates enough animosity to power the world’s cities several times over. And anyway, I’ve always felt that, rather than calling an opponent “stupid,” it’s far more constructive to demonstrate how stupid your opponent is by systematically destroying their arguments. (Just kidding. Sort of.)
3. Watch your language. There’s really no reason for comments to be threatening, profane, harassing, pornographic, offensive, false or misleading. So think before you post. If you wouldn’t say it to your grandmother, don’t say it in here.
We reserve the right to edit or delete comments for any reason. But if our readers follow the guidelines posted here, we do not expect that to be necessary. Have questions or suggestions regarding this policy? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
