A meme about ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and Ken Ham

It’s now been a week since our invitation to Ken Ham and Answers in Genesis, and we’ve heard nary a peep. Not surprising by any means, but disappointing. And very telling. Obviously, Ham has no problem taking potshots at fellow Christians from the safety of his comment-disabled website and aggressively policed Facebook page, but when the opportunity comes to actually back up his views to someone who shares his beliefs but not his interpretation of Genesis, he’s not interested. This is despite his claim that his organization is all about spreading the gospel, presumably, even to “compromisers” like myself.

This meme was based on an idea by one of our readers, who submits his work pseudonymously as “Bryce Johansen.”

I am not in the least bit surprised by the silence of Answers in Genesis. They have nothing to learn from any people who are ‘wrong’ and who do not venerate the Bible the rigid way in which they do – they are too certain that they are right (even when the facts show otherwise – as in the case of all the debunking/questioning emails and comments I have sent to them for several years and which they either delete without reading or read but then pretend they did not read).

It seems Ham chose… poorly. 🙂

I’d try to encourage you not to get too down about it. I posted fairly regularly to a local radio talk show that advocated creationism to try to present some facts. After resisting invitations by the host to participate in an on-air debate (because science isn’t about how good you are at convincing people or “scoring points”), I acquiesced, asking how I should make arrangements — and never heard from him again.

    • Wow. That’s unfortunate, but also rings true to my experience. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for your reply. 🙂 You can see me as “MattF” in many of the creation/evolution debates in the “Truth Talk Live” fora: http://www.truthtalklive.com/?s=evolution

Fair warning: I tend to be long-winded. 🙂

Sadly, the fora died very quickly after the radio program changed from a daily to a weekly format.

Ah, but the scene you’re thinking of is actually from The Last Crusade 😉
