A meme about barriers being put before the gospel

We sometimes get asked why we focus so much on young-earth creationism and YEC proponents. This is why.

Young people are not leaving the church in droves because of science. They’re leaving the church because of a particular way Christianity is being presented, in which they’re told they can be true to the Bible, or true to what the scientific evidence says, but not both.

We do what we do because that ^^^ is a lie, and it’s hurting the church and our witness in the world today.

“…but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 9:12 (ESV)

“Most people know something about the sky and the land. When we speak nonsense about something they do know, why should they listen to us when we speak to them of things they don’t?”

Do you have the citation where that is actually from? It fits so very very well.

Paul wrote to Titus: “But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.” The creation-evolution “controversy” is a foolish one — the only controversy is the one the Creationists promote, and it is a worthless one, unsupported by any physical evidence, and as you point out, unprofitable since souls are lost because of it.

I may have to steal that quote. (I’ll attribute it.)
